"Welcome to my World"

My Arrival

Lately I’ve been feeling like a new man.

Just living life as is.

Getting my priorities straight as I head into a new phase of my life

God is doing his part, now it’s up to me to do mine.

The power I withhold is so much greater that I feel the need to share

Many are not capable of living the life I live, so I live it for them

Now, I have a long ways to go but that’s what makes this thing called life so GREAT!

I am able to stumble & fall then get right back up to proceed in God’s arms.

When I finally reach him I would hope he’d say

“My son you’ve made me proud, Welcome Home”

Employers vs. Employees: Social Media Battles in the Workplace

Over the past 5 years social media has taken over Americans lives whether they know it or not. Social media has been very effective on how they reel in more and more users each day. Employers have noticed the growth and revenue that social media networks such as Twitter and Facebook has caused. Employees spend more time on social media sites than they do working, so there has to be a problem right. The article “Social Media at Work Raises Issues of Account Ownership” indicates that social media  in the workplace may start so battles.

Employers have created profiles on these social media sites which are ran by the employees. The employees are the ones promoting the brands and advertisements and overall bringing in potential clients to these corporations. The problem is they are not being acknowledged by their employers, and are starting to realize that this is a major issue. Writers of the article mentioned that ” 48 % of firms are permitted to access social media sites at work for non-business use.” This is when questions such as who is the one really promoting the brand arises.

In my opinion I think it is the employees who should be receiving the credit for establish and maintaining wealth within their jobs. Since employers own these social media account they have all the power. Employees are tired of the being recognized, so they have taken matters into their own hands. More and more lawsuits are being form because of ownership issues between the corporation and their employees. The hard part about suing companies, is most companies have protection policies that will benefit them in the end.

What is next? If a solution isn’t made about this issue, you will hear more and more stories on how employees are suing their employers. Possibly having employees and employers sign some kind of an agreement about using social media on the jobs will help stop this battle. Or perhaps employees should start getting paid more for what they are bringing to the table. Even so, there has to be so kind of conclusion that will benefit both parties. Until then social media will continue to dominate the lives of Americans.

The Problem with Social Media and Health

I was recently reading an article off kevinmd.com that was explaining how your health can be effected by social media websites. It drew my attention because I never knew social media could have such a strain one’s health. Many people put their whole lives on a social network as if they have to make sure everyone know’s they are still alive and breathing. Communication is the most important piece to someone’s daily activity. Social media websites serves as an outlet directing communication as well as receiving it.

Writer Jay Parkinson mentioned that “In order for social media to exist and function, it must engage users on a daily basis”. This may be the exact cause of the health problems. Those who tend to get sick like to lay in the bed and get on social networks. Many hope that friends and family members send messages about getting better as a comfort technique for them. Is this really making you feel better or is it keeping you from getting betting better the right way.

The article also mentioned that people who have health issues tend to find people with similar health conditions. I don’t know about you guys but why would you want to discuss you illness with someone all day everyday. Wouldn’t that get tiring after awhile or cause a strain on your emotional health? At the same time finding someone else with common health problems may be exactly what one needs as a step to recovery. It’s always good to have someone that has your back or supports anything you do and you can find just that on a social network.

Overall Social Media can be therapeutic to those with health problems but can also cause other internal damage. Communication has shown that it can affect more than just your image or character but now your health can be added to the list. Whether you agree or not, there are people who really use social media as a “cure” to there health problems. Hopefully these same people can utilize social media to improve their health rather than diminish it. If not the outcome could be worse than intended.

Various Problems Facebook Presents

Have you noticed more and more people have recently steered away from using Facebook? At one point in time everyone loved Facebook but most recently alot of problems have become present when using this social media site. Issues such as privacy and issues with Facebook new layout are among a few problems that are causing users satifaction to decrease. In this article on technorati.com it talks about how these issue are concerns and could ultimately drop Facebook as the number one social network to number two. Meaning social networks such as Twitter and Tumblr will become take that spot and become more prominent in the years to come.

Privacy has always been an issue while using Facebook and has became worse over the years. Due to the many changes with the layouts on this site, it has allowed people’s personal information to be shared unwantedly. We can now she when people comment, like, or post a status in the matter of seconds. The problem with this is we see information being shared even if we are not friends with the the actual person who your friend is responding too. It was even said as I was reading that ” members information could be tracked even when they are not logged in”. This happens because facebook founder Zuckerberg feels the need to change the design of the website every other month which present a huge problem.

More and more people question if they even want to continue using Facebook because of the problems they have to deal with while using it. The real reason why Facebook continues to change their design layouts has to with profiting more money. If personal data is being shared and lost all the time, I don’t understand why money is their main concern. Facebook is said to become a billion dollar company this year. Honestly if more and more people’s information continues to be shared, Facebook could be out the picture with in the next five years.

Even though Facebook does control all the data used and shared, you have to wonder will this issue be addressed or will it become the downfall of Zuckerberg’s success. Facebook today is not the same Facebook of three years ago where you actually enjoyed engaging into the site. College students especially are affected by these issue because it was designed for us. We are the mare the majority out of the adults that have to decide if it worth having our private lives across the net. Hopefully in the near future Facebook will be able to find a solution and keep their number one spot as the top social network used today.
